When I decided to give up a 2 pack a day cigarette habit, I used a quit smoking program developed for me by Linda Knight, of Hypnotherapy Associates of Grand Rapids. I chose a quit date as instructed, and began listening to the recording. As it turns out, my last cigarette was 3 days before my quit date, and I found the process to be much easier than I had anticipated. Cravings are easy to simply ride out by reminding myself that they will pass quickly, and this gets easier every time I resist the urge to smoke. The program was full of personalized affirmations that helped me remember why I had chosen to quit. I did not become “grouchy” as I had feared. Since I work part time as head of security in a busy bar, I especially appreciated the lack of negative suggestions about being around smokers. I am able to take responsibility for my choice not to smoke, even when I am surrounded by people who make a different choice. You’re my hero. When I first approached you about a hypnosis session over the phone to help me relieve the pain in my frozen shoulder, I was lost. My doctor was pushing me to do more physical exercises to increase my range of motion, but the pain was so great, I created a mental block against doing those exercises. After you helped him relieve the pain in his shoulder, my friend gave me your Quit Smoking Now and Forever CDs. While doing the assignments that were given before my quit date, I became motivated to start eating healthier, and started losing weight. Now my doctor says to keep that up for another 2 weeks before moving on to the actual quit smoking part.
